Advanced I - Homework

Hello my dear students,
This is your homework to enjoy the weekend:
Was Pancho Villa a hero, a villain, of both? Give reasons for your answer. Read and decide

PANCHO VILLA: HERO OR VILLAIN?

Born in the late 1800s in Durango, Mexico, Pancho Villa became a folk hero after he joined the Mexican revolution in 1910 and organized an army against the oppressive government. He became something of a Robin Hood, fighting for the cause of the poor and the oppressed. However, to achieve his goals he robbed banks, stole cattle and land, and ordered the murders of many people. Although a popular figure in the US, in 1916, he raided Columbus, New Mexico, because he opposed yanqui aggression. It is said that he married 26 times. Although the Mexican government eventually pensioned and retired him, in 1923 he was assassinated by his enemies.

In my opinion Pancho Villa was both hero and villain, because he was a believing person in its ideas and political. He wanted a free country, with just laws, a democratic government, where all respect people's rights, but he didn't wanted that his alive people (relatives, friends) in a place full oppressive government with injustices to his around them.
For that reason he joined to fight against the government to do justice with his own hands, he committed to defend rights of weak people that maintained their life inclining their heads in complete silence. He became a hero to these people, because he was an exceptional person in their lifes that represent to them in the fight and who took care their lifes.
But he also did horrible acts that decrease his image, because nobody have the right to order killing to a person in spite of be a the worse person in the world, this action is the worst thing that he could have done, because his end doesn't justify his medium. Also he is villain to someone people that suffered his actions like robbed banks, stole cattle and land, he could to give to the poor persons. He represents a different image in two sides. In conclution I think that he is what the people want to see or to believe, for me he's both.

In my opinion Pancho Villa had some of hero and villain, he wasn’t exactly in one of those, he was a different person with other kind of thoughts.
Pancho Villa had real good intentions, he wanted a different country for his people his wish was a better place and the best life quality for poor people. In the 1800’s there was a lot of bad things and social differences, the politicians(just like now) were people with ambitions, they didn`t work to improve the situation they were selfish and it was the principal reason that impulse the Pancho Villa’s revolution.
People loved him because he was a hero, fighting for justice in his country and doing things to give them better things to improve their lives. For Mexican people Villa was their savior.
But it’s important to consider the things he did in name of the justice. Pancho Villa did things against the human rights like robberies, steals and murders. It wasn’t absolutely according to his wishes of free, peace and justice. For those reasons for me Pancho Villa couldn’t be a hero he acted like a villain to get his objectives.
Reading a book some years ago I learned (and I think that I’ll never forget because it affected me a lot) one phrase “The purpose justifies the means”. Using this phrase I did another which is a really truth. “THE PURPOSE DON`T JUSTIFIES THE MEANS” and I consider that this words are exactly to apply in the Pancho Villa’s history.

Well I think that Pancho Villa was a hero, because he wanted a country with freedom where his people could live without without fear of thinking and opinion.
He fought for rights and and against the dictatorship that there was in Mexico, where the landowners (people who had power and were rich) every day were becoming much more powerful and were humiliating the poorest. That's why Pancho Villa decided to join the Liberation Army, led by the ideals of freedom.
Mexican people thought that he was their hero and loved him. they have a special day to commemorate him. It is also known that Pancho Villa committed excesses, but it has been shown to reach freedom sometimes requires the revolution and not always get through peace.
Mexican people, thanks to Pancho Villa achieving a better quality of life without oppression.
Pancho Villa reminds us of many heroes that we had in Peru and that They fought for our independence and democracy.
that´s something to thik over, isn´t it?

I think Pancho Villa was both hero and villain, but more than villain was a hero because he helped many poor people from social class discrimination in their country, and led the Mexican people to be freed from injustice, also he fought against the abuse of people with power and Money.
Pancho Villa probably had two personalities, sometimes he was very aggressive and didn’t like many people, but he also had many accomplishments, he helped and fed people who were evicted by soldiers
He would be a real hero if he hadn’t sent to kill or shoot a lot of people, I think that although he wanted to do the best in the world, sent to kill people wasn’t better, so they have been more bad people in the world.
Pancho Villa wanted to do the best for his people but unfortunately maybe he grew up in a violent environment.
Many people see him as a true hero because he managed to gain the sympathy and confidence of the poor, but others view him as a villain because he invaded territories and command to shoot, some U.S. persons.

I think Pancho Villa was a villain because although he was searching justice for poor people, he ordered a lot of murders, he was becaming an a robber of cattle and land. Despite of his altruistic goals for the mexican people, I think anything justify murders, looting and robberies.

He was a poor peasant orphan and was poorly educated. He was a fugitive in the mountains because killed one of the owners of the farm where he worked.

Then Pancho Villa joined Madero in his struggle against the dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz, and showed an innate ability for war. Using his knowledge of the land and farmers, managed his own army in northern Mexico, which contributed to the triumph of the revolutionary movement.

In fact, many revolutions have achieved with a lot of bloodshed, but it is important to think if kill many people would justify a popular cause. I don't think so.

I think Pancho Villa was an illiterate person who, at the beggining of his revolution, did things with good intentions for help all poor people and leaving out all rich people.

In the way, he was sick of ambition of power and money, therfore he gained a lot of enemys who wanted to kill him until they won.

In my opinion, at the beggining of Pancho Villa's revolution he was, for the porr people, one of the greatest heroes; however, as time passed, he become a great villain.

I say "at the beggining of his revolution" because he fought agains rich people that were oppressors of the poor people. To desire better rights and social justice for poor people was a good idea; but violence only generates violence. He was not culturally prepared to get power and he took big bad decisions. He killed a lot of people to get his goal.

Summarizing, I think Pancho Villa had ideas of a hero, but the actions of a villain.

In my opinion PV he was a hero with rebellious thoughts.
Probably in his time the only way of
doing justice was murdering or stealing.
Mexico considers him a hero for fighting for the poor and oppresseds.
Many national heroes of different countries have had to take the justice
with his own hands helped by the people who were following them.
He wanted everyone in his country they are treated equally.

In my opinion Pancho Villa was a hero and also a villian.
I think that he fought for a good cause, but he fought in a wrong way.
Since ever in some conutries we had seen that the people had been abused by the richest people.
He believed in a free country,in a just government without abuse, but for got these he had to do horrible things like killing people or steal.

Pancho Villa a person who want democracy in his town.
Some people believe that because they have money, they can slave to other people.
They are in a big wrong!.
Pancho Villa started the mexican revolution to help the pour people, enforce their rights, defend the pour people of the opression of rich.
There ara many points to see for understand the revolution, for example when we are in the side of rich people we'll to say "He was a Villan" but we don't know the other side, the time when he helped the pour people and give money to survive.
For me pancho villa was,is and will continue being a hero, how a robin hood in the tales, but he is in the history of mexico.
